Tatreetz workshop & talks on Palestinian Textile Culture
Tatreetz workshop & talks on Palestinian Textile Culture
We begin the event with a discussion with Lara Salous (@woolwoman) who is a Palestinian textile artist, working with other women in the occupied Palestinian territories to revive the tradition of wool-making.
We will then move to a Tatreez presentation with @impinsandimneedles. We will cover Tatreez as an indigenous art, personal expression, collective language and memory, a tool of resistance, a thousand-year-old tradition, and a living, modern cultural practice.
Discussion & presentation are open to everyone, few spots left for the workshop as well! (Be directly in contact with @seamshelsinki if you want to reserve a spot.)
All workshop profits will go to @sumud.fi; we also recommend making a small donation for the presentations as well 🙏
The event will take place both in-person and online (we will share the link before the event).

About the Tatreetz workshop:
We’ll spend the evening learning about the ancient and modern art and craft of Palestinian embroidery.
This is a beginner class where you’ll learn to stitch a traditional Palestinian cross-stitch motif in a community circle and hear about the history and the present of Tatreez in Palestine and in the diaspora.
More workshop details from @seamshelsinki post.
If you’re Palestinian and cost is a barrier, let the organizers know. We’d love for you to be there.
Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class is for you.
Come stitch with us in solidarity!! 🇵🇸🪡🧵
